Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
